Heard any beard oil myths lately? There are so many of them around. One we hear often is about how often to use beard oil. As someone who has been growing a beard for my whole life, I tend to consider myself somewhat of an expert. In this article, I will provide some guidance on oils, balms and how to use them effectively. Before we go into that, we first have to understand how beard oils work. How Do Beard Oils Work? Beard oils are intended to rejuvenate and nourish your beard. No one wants to walk around with a beard that is hard as a rock. That is why these natural oils are necessary. As you wash your beard daily, most people tend to lose the natural oils their beard produces. That’s where the oils for your beard come in. Most products today will use natural oils such as argan oil and even avocado in their oils. What Goes Into Making Beard Oil? We recommend using beard oils that are made using natural ingredients. Without touting our own horn, we use argan oil, apricot, avocado, and macadamia. Argan oil is great for your hair! Don’t just take our word for it though. It is rich in Vitamin E and according to a scientific study from 2010, Vitamin E promotes hair growth. Our oils are also made using apricot seed oil. And that oil works wonders for your hair. Apricot seed oil is rich in proteins and oleic acid which is a fantastic emollient that makes your beard hair softer. Apricot seed oil is also known to increase hydration in hair and provide natural moisturisation. How To Use Beard Oil Apply your beard oil after a warm shower. After your shower, your pores are usually more open. This makes them more receptive to care products. It’s the best time to absorb all the nutrients from oils. Application 1. Wash Your Beard After your shower or beard wash, pat your hair dry. Oil and water don’t mix. Make sure your beard is dry before applying the oil. 2. Drop The Oil Into Your Palms The next step is to squirt the tip of the dropper bottle, lift and press to leave a few drops of the beard oil into your palms. For a stubble apply 1 drop. Small beard: 2 drops, medium beard: 3-4 drops and long beards can use up to 6 drops. 3. Rub Into Your Beard Distribute the oil evenly across your palm by rubbing your hands together. Then massage the oil into your beard. Keep massaging into your beard and feel the skin underneath. 4. Comb or Brush You can now apply a styling beard balm and comb or brush your beard out. With your moistured beard, it is now easy to style it. How Often To Use Beard Oil This is the big question. How often should you use the oil and what is the right routine? It depends on a few things like: The length of your beard The climate where you live Your weather Your beard goals Most people should use the oil at least twice a day. Use it in the morning, after your shower or beard wash and then at night. However, if you live in a dry area and constantly get dryness or itching, you can keep applying the beard oil. It is always best to use beard oils after a beard wash or shower. This ensures all the nutrients are absorbed. Enjoyed reading this article?
